Man gets life imprisonment in dowry death case

A man was today sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here for killing his wife for dowry six years ago.
Additional District Judge S.N Tripathi awarded life imprisonment to Amirchand for killing his wife Laxmi on April 5, 2008.
Amirchand had demanded Rs 50,000 and a motorcycle in dowry. He had also threatened to kill his wife and remarry in case the demand was not met.
On the night of April 5, 2008, Amirchand strangulated his wife to death and fled.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs. 4000 on the convict.
