Man hacks woman to death

In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old man today hacked his lover, who refused to marry him, to death at the bus-stand here, police said.
The two had an affair while studying at college but the woman's parents had objected to it and asked her to stop seeing him, police said.
The man, who had left for Coimbatore in search of job some months ago, returned to Mallapuram village after hearing that the woman's parents were planning to marry her off.
He followed the family when they were purchasing the marriage items and confronted the woman at the bus-stand, demanding that she marry him. When she refused, he attacked her with a sickle.

The man was arrested and has been remanded to judicial custody, police said.
