Man held at IGIA for smuggling gold worth Rs 22 lakh

A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle gold bars valued at about Rs 22 lakh into the country, at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here.
The accused, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, was intercepted by customs officials after his arrival from Dubai here on last Monday.
"Detailed search of his baggage resulted in the recovery of eight gold bars weighing 940 gms valued at Rs 22.43 lakh," a press release issued today by the customs said.
The gold was seized and the passenger has been arrested, it said.
