The incident occurred after the girl, a class IV student, got down from her school bus in evening.
"The accused, identified as Sharat Chary, under the pretext of offering lift to the girl to her house on his bike took her to an isolated place at a distance of around 3 km, where he allegedly attempted to rape her," said Jeedimetla police station sub-inspector Lingaiah Naik.
However, the girl was rescued in time as some locals got alerted after noticing a school bag on motorcycle and grew suspicious after hearing her cries.
A case was registered against Chary on the charges of kidnap and attempt to rape under relevant sections of IPC besides under POCSO Act.
Further probe is on.
