According to police, the accused, whose name has been withheld with police to secure identity of the victim, allegedly raped his 12-year-old stepdaughter at his residence in Nandivili area of Kalyan while his wife was out for work.
The man was apprehended yesterday on the basis of a complaint filed by his wife, who works with a security agency, Kolsewadi police station sub-inspector V B Zende said.
As per the complaint, the incident took place sometime in February when the girl's mother had gone on night duty and taking advantage of it, the man raped the girl.
The accused has been booked under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
