"Avinash Baheti was arrested from Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday," SHO of Pratap Nagar police station Hanumat Singh said.
During interrogation, he said that the accused has confessed that more than 1,500 trucks were involved in his racket for transporting and smuggling ammonium nitrate in different parts of the country.
"He has connections with many firms who supply ammonium nitrate. He smuggles and sell it at a very high price through his network," Singh said.
Baheti is in judicial custody till August 18, Singh added.
Ammonium nitrate is a chemical compound which is commonly used as agriculture fertilisers. But it is a highly explosive compound.
