The gang attempted to loot a jewellery shop of one Ahirrao located at Sonawane complex in Satana, nearly 70 kms from here, but was noticed by a resident Kiran Sonawane while they were trying to open the shutter of the shop, PT Patil, in-charge of Satana Police Station, said.
Acting as a good samaritan, Sonwane raised an alarm and tried to get hold of the miscreants as they tried to flee the spot in a car after seeing him, the officer said, adding the dacoits fired one round of bullet at Sonwane, injuring him in the stomach.
Sonawane was rushed to a hospital in Nashik and told police that he saw dacoits opening the shutter of shop.
