A man was killed and his brother injured after two men, whom they refused water for consuming alcohol, stabbed them in Rajouri Garden area of west Delhi, police said today.
"The accused, identified as Sunny alias Lalu and Ramanand Sagar were arrested within four hours of the incident," said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Ranvir Singh, adding that the dagger used in the crime was recovered.
The incident took place around 9 PM yesterday when the two brothers, Bhola, who worked at an automobile showroom as a mechanic and his brother Pinku, who worked as a mason, were cooking food outside their house.
Sunny and Sagar were drinking at a nearby park and had borrowed water for the same from the brothers. After some time they came and asked for more water from the brothers.
"As the siblings had run out of water themselves, they declined the request. The accused got into an argument with the brothers and threatened to kill them," Singh said.
Sagar immediately, took out a dagger and stabbed Bhola in a forceful manner. Immediately, Sunny took out the dagger from Sagar and caused multiple stab injuries in the chest and lower portion of Pinku as a result of which, he succumbed to his injuries. They then attacked Bhola and fled the spot, the officer said.
The police were informed about the incident at 11:05 PM by the authorities at the Deen Dayal Upadhayay hospital. A team rushed to the spot. Pinku was declared dead on arrival whereas Bhola is recuperating at the hospital, police said.
