Man killed in road mishap, locals block highway in protest

A 25-year-old man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a vehicle near Kharkhara, following which irate locals blocked traffic on the national highway here, police said today.
The victim, Sukhbir Singh Yadav of Kharkhara village was killed last night when he was returning home last night from the factory he worked in and his motorbike was hit by a light commercial vehicle, they said.
Following the mishap, resident of Kharkhara village staged a demonstration on the highway demanding construction of an underpass at the accident site and raised slogans against the district administration, police said.

The blockade which lasted for about three hours was lifted after Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Rewari, Munish Nagpal, and police officials assured the protesters that their demands would be met, they said.
Later, the protesters took the body to the factory where the victim worked and demanded compensation from the factory management.
