One person was killed and three others were injured when they were hit by a train while crossing a closed level crossing in Ghaziabad Tuesday, a railway official said.
The incident happened at 8 am when a group of four were crossing the tracks even as the level crossing was closed for traffic.
The four were hit by the Dankor-Shakur Basti passenger train at gate no 153A.
"The incident happened between Ghaziabad and Chipyana. The gate was closed and they were trying to cross from beneath it. All the injured are being treated at Civil Hospital Ghaziabad," Northern Railway spokesperson Deepak Kumar said.
Between September 2017 and August 2018, there have been five accidents at manned level crossings which have led to six deaths.
There were eight accidents at unmanned level crossings during the same period.
