The deceased, Dileep, was a resident of Defence Colony and belonged to Rajasthan. He used to stay alone here, police said.
He worked in a private job and was on his way to work when he was hit by the DTC bus route number 425 on Lala Lajpat Rai Marg opposite Honda showroom today around 10.30 AM, said a senior police officer.
He was hit from behind and was thrown off his scooty, the officer said.
He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead and his body has been preserved at a mortuary for post-mortem.
The accused driver managed to flee from the spot and police teams have been formed to nab him, the officer said.
The bus that hit Dileep plies between ISBT and Kalkaji Extension.
Police is investigating whether the accused was over- speeding at the time of the accident.
