The Session Court yesterday also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Pappu.
Pappu assaulted his father Krishna Murari in Kharagjit Nagar with an iron rod, resulting in his death due to head injuries, the prosecution said.
On August 26, 2012 Murari was rushed to District Hospital after the brutal assault where doctors declared him brought dead.
An FIR was lodged by Murari's second son Kallu, alleging that his younger brother Pappu killed their father over an alleged land dispute.
Relying on the evidence on record the District and Session's judge yesterday convicted Pappu of his father's murder.
