Thirty-year-old Annu Bhengra had gone to the weekly market when he was accosted by two motor cycle-borne youths and shot at several times, police said.
The assailants pumped in nine bullets in Bhengra's body fatally injuring him, SP Anish Gupta said.
The exact cause behind the killing as well as the identity of the killers was established as yet.
Bhengra was a resident of Kamdara police station limit in Gumla district and had been to jail twice in connection with loot incident.
