The accused Ramesh Pandurang Chaudhari (55) is a resident of village Zadgaon.
According to the police, Kiran (27), his eldest son, was an alcoholic and often quarreled with other members of the family.
On Sunday, Kiran allegedly sold off the family's cotton crop to get money for liquor. He returned home drunk and a quarrel ensued.
Ramesh thrashed him severely. His wife Rekha, accompanied by the couple's youngest son Pravin, left the house to fetch her brother from nearby Raveri village so that he could intervene.
Ramesh had allegedly hit his drunk son with a log on the head. As Kiran passed out, assuming that he was dead, Ramesh and Nilesh dragged the body to the farm well and threw it in.
The mother then went to the police station with her brother and narrated the incident.
The body was fished out from the well. Ramesh and his son Nilesh were arrested for murder.
Police station officer Bharat Kamble was carrying out further probe.
