Union Minister Maneka Gandhi has urged all states to ensure that each district of the country has a Child Welfare Committee (CWC) by the end of August, officials said today.
She was addressing a national conference of the ministers in-charge of the women and child development departments in their respective states and Union territories.
The conference was attended by ministers from Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Manipur.
The remaining states were represented by secretary level and other high-level officers of the state WCD departments.
