The arrival of different varieties of the 'king of fruit' from Valsad, Surat and Navsari started since Saturday last, Navsari APMC chairman Ashish Desai said.
Traders will send consignments from here to markets in Delhi, Mumbai and other parts of the country, he said.
According to market sources, the arrival was delayed due to erratic winter last year and unseasonal rain during the last few months in the state, which damaged mango crop varieties like Kesar, Alphonso and Rajapuri.
The storm and unseasonal rains last month had also caused extensive damage to the crop in Talala and Dhari areas of Saurashtra.
According to traders at the APMC, mango production is likely to be less as compared to last year due to unseasonal rains and adverse climatic conditions, though it is early to predict production figures.
Trader Shailesh Pandya said ban on export of mango in European countries might bring rates down, but less production may result in the price rising in coming days.
Currently, Alphonso is being sold in range of Rs 400-Rs 750 per 20 kgs, Rs 465-Rs 1,055 for Kesar, Rs 425-Rs 760 for Langda. Prices may fall after arrival picks up, traders hoped.
