"The victim, identified as Muna Madhi, was taken by the ultras from his house at Irbanpali village in Padia area last night and his body was found in a nearby forest this morning," Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Pinak Mishra said.
The body was lying in a pool of blood with his throat slit, he said, adding police officers have rushed to the spot after the incident.
The red rebels killed Madhi as they apparently suspected him to be functioning as an informer for the police. Investigation is on to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the killing, the police said.
Steps are being taken to step up combing operation and patrolling by the security personnel in the area where Naxals have been active, they said.
