Mathura power dept employees end strike after compensation to family of murdered JE

Employees of the power department called off their strike on Friday after the payment of compensation amount to the family of a junior engineer who was shot dead here last week, an office-bearer of the union said.

The wife of the deceased, Junior engineer Pradeep Kumar (35), was also offered a government job by the Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited (DVVNL), according to Rajya Vidyut Parishad Zonal secretary Sangathan Anshul Kumar Sharma.

"We have resumed our duty from Friday after Rs 37 lakh was paid to the bereaved family and job offer to the wife of Pradeep Kumar," he said.

DVVNL Director (Personnel) Rakesh Kumar met the agitating employees at the dharna venue on Thursday evening and informed them about the steps taken.

Pradeep Kumar was shot dead around 9.30 pm on January 16 in the Jamuna Paar area when he was returning from Panigaon power sub-station,
