Experienced coaches and former international shuttlers will show their talent in the inaugural Masters Badminton League (MBL) to be played at Panchkula from November 24 to 26.
Announcing this here today, Organising Secretary, Vinay Bhalla said that the league will be organized under the observation of Badminton Association of India (BAI) and Haryana Badminton Association (HBA).
"The idea behind conducting the league is to provide a platform to experienced coaches and players," he said adding that "many seniors are ignored after ending their professional stint."
This tournament has been designed to showcase the talents of Masters from all across India who are registered with BAI, and are playing at district/state/national/international level representing India, he said.
Coaches and international players above 30 years of age in women section and over 35 age group in men will participate in the event, which will be played on round-robin basis before the knock out stage begins.
"We have received registration of more than 450 players from all across India. It is a Franchise based league consisting of 8 teams of 16 players each. All the teams will vie for honours in a three-day tournament," he said.
"The players will be bought by the franchises in an auction scheduled on October 2. The prize money for the MBL is Rs five lakh," he added.
