A media consultant was today arrested from a posh hotel here on charges of cheating Bollywood actress Sana Khan of Rs 9 lakh.
Acting on a complaint filed by Khan, the consultant, Poonam Khanna, was put under arrest after her statement was recorded, police said.
The development comes a week after Khan and two others were apprehended on a separate complaint filed by the 42-year- old media consultant. The trio, booked on criminal intimidation and other charges, was later granted bail.
"Poonam Khanna was picked up from a posh hotel in suburbs and her statement was recorded at length before she was placed under arrest. Khanna would be produced before a court tomorrow," Subhash Wele, Senior Inspector with Oshiwara Police Station, said.
According to the police, a few months ago Khanna took Rs 9 lakh from Khan with the promise of getting her two shanties in a slum, a prospective redevelopment site, and a SRA (a Government-promoted scheme) flat in suburban Goregaon. Khanna, however, did not keep her word.
When the actress asked Khanna to return the money, the latter refused and threatened to "destroy" her career if she persisted with the demand, they said.
Subsequently, Khan, who has appeared in Salman Khan- starrer 'Jai Ho' and was also a part of the reality TV show 'Bigg Boss' in 2012, approached Oshiwara Police and lodged an FIR against Khanna on last Saturday.
Khanna was booked on charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust and for issuing threats.
On October 29, Khan, her boyfriend Ismail Khan and their servant Ramu Kanojia were arrested under IPC Sections 354 (assault with intent to outrage modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) on Khanna's complaint.
The trio had an altercation with Khanna, who they suspected, had leaked some information to the media which led to publication of an article against the 27-year-old actress.
