A medical officer was arrested by Vigilance sleuths from Odisha's Jajpur district for allegedly taking Rs 600 bribe from a retired employee to issue a no due certificate for availing retirement benefits.
Satyaban Jena, medical officer of Mangalpur community health centre, was caught redhanded yesterday while taking the bribe in his office chamber, a vigilance release said today.
Vigilance sleuths who had laid the trap seized the bribe money and chemical test confirmed acceptance of the amount, it said.
The no due certificate was required by a retired senior helper to get his retirement benefits.
