Vyapam whistle blower Anand Rai today denied that he had secretly recorded the meeting between him and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in order to blackmail the MP government.
"I recorded the conservation secretly not to blackmail the Madhya Pradesh state government but for my own defence in case the MP state government could have recorded my secret meeting with Chouhan and leak its selected portion to defame me later. If such a scenario arose, I would release the unedited version to save myself," he told reporters here.
The 38-year-old whistle blower claimed that he had recorded the conversation using a wristwatch built with a recorder and a camera.
He said that this meeting took place on August 11 at the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister's official residence in the Shyamla Hills area from 9.45 pm to 10.50 pm.
When asked whether as whistle blower he will make public the recording of this secret meeting, "At present I don't want to public this recording as it amounts to immorality."
He said that by withdrawing his and his wife Gauri Rai's transfer orders, the MP state government has "admitted its mistake", adding that he would continue his fight against the Vyapam scam as before.
Earlier in the day the MP state government took a U-turn on the issue of transferring the physician couple and posted them back to Indore.
The MP state government also dismissed Rai's allegations that MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had asked him not to name him (Chouhan) and his family members in the infamous Vyapam and DMAT scam in lieu of cancelling his (Rai's) and his wife's transfer orders.
