Members seek scrapping of cases filed in run up to Asly polls

: Members of the ruling and opposition blocks today urged the government to scrap all he cases filed against political party workers in the run up to the May 15 Assembly polls in the union territory.
Participating in the inconclusive debate on demands for various departments, including Legislature in the Assembly,DMK legislator from Neravy T R Pattinam in Karaikal Geetha Anandhan said cases were registered against workers of political parties during the polls by election authorities.
She requested the Chief Minister to take a decision to scrap the cases.
Ruling Congress legislator M N R Balan and the opposition AIADMK legislator A Baskar also pleaded for withdrawal of cases filed against party volunteers during the polls.
Baskar said there were cases filed against those who were out of station during the elections.
The members wanted the Chief Minister to take a decision to scrap the cases at a meeting of the cabinet.
