Mentha oil futures drifted by 0.58% to Rs 696.50 per kg today as speculators locked in gains at prevailing levels amid slackened spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in July declined by Rs 4.10, or 0.58%, to Rs 696.50 per kg in a business turnover of 281 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in the August traded lower by Rs 3.50, or 0.48%, to Rs 713 per kg in 366 lots.

The fall in mentha futures was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators after recent gains and sluggish demand in spot markets from pharmaceutical units, analysts said.
