Mentha oil climbs 4% on export demand

Traders create fresh positions as lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh support uptrend

Mentha oil prices spurted by 4 per cent to hit upper limit at Rs 1,034.10 per kg today as speculators engaged in enlarging positions amid export demand in spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May spurted by Rs 39.70, or 4 per cent, at Rs 1,034.10 per kg, clocking a business volume of 1,341 lots.

The April contract traded higher by Rs 38.70, or 3.94 per cent, to Rs 1,019 per kg, with a trading volume of 1,819 lots.

The trading sentiment remained firm as traders created positions, triggered by export as well as domestic demand amid lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, traders said.
