Mindless negativity by Congress counter productive: BJP

Elated over victory in Bengaluru civic bodies' polls after similar results in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, BJP today launched an offensive against Congress saying "mindless negativity" is counter productive and the main Opposition party should learn a "lesson" from it.
"Mindless negativity is counterproductive. This is the electorate's message to Congress after M.P., Rajasthan and Banguluru civic elections," Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tweeted.
In another tweet, he said, "Congratulations to the Karnataka BJP on a spectacular victory in the Municipal elections of Bangaluru."
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the result is a "lesson" for all. "Its message is clear that negative politics is not going to yield any benefit to anyone," he said.

Naidu said that this victory has come to the BJP in the IT hub of Karnataka even as the state is ruled by Congress.
He also referred to the results of civic body polls in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan saying that they came "despite a very negative campaign" by Congress against its Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Vasundhara Raje on the Vyapam issue and Lalit Modi controversy.

"I congratulate ppl of Bangalore for the emphatic positive mandate given for Bharatiya Janata Party in the BBMP elections," the Parliamentary Affairs Minister tweeted.
In other tweets on the hashtag BBMPREsults, he said, "I congratulate Bng City BJP Unit, #KarnatakaBJP, all Party Workers and Leaders for the hard work that they have put in.

"Congratulations 2 all d newly elected Corporators. I assure that all d necessary help from GOI to Bangalore will be given."
The comments by the senior BJP leaders came as the party today appeared to retain control of the IT city's civic body, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), as it moved ahead of the Congress, winning 49 wards and leading in 46 others.
The Congress, the ruling party in the state, which has invested much prestige into the battle had bagged 36, JDS seven and others three till noon as counting of votes for BBMP polls, held on Aug 22, began this morning.

Results for 95 out of 197 wards had been declared around noon.
Putting all its might into the battle, the Congress had launched an all out offensive to unseat BJP.
Trends showed that BJP is leading in 46, Congress in 37, JD(S) in five and others in five.
The election to 198 wards of BBMP was held after a prolonged court battle, as Siddaramaiah-led government sought to defer it on grounds of trifurcating the civic body.
