Minor boy killed by step-mother in Punjab

A nine-year-old boy was allegedly killed by his step-mother here, police said today.

The accused allegedly slit the boy's throat with a knife yesterday as she was jealous of the boy's bonding with his father and threw the body into a village canal, Senior Superintendent of Police Amritsar (Rural) Parmpal Singh here.

The SSP said the body was found in the village canal of Ajanla.

The boy's mother approached police and accused the woman of killing the her son, he said.

She told police that the woman and her husband used to indulge in heated arguments because of the boy.
