The accused, Rajpal, had been arrested after the girl recorded her statement before a judicial magistrate in Sonepat under Section 164 of the CrPC yesterday, Superintendent of Police Arun Nehra said today.
In her statement, the girl, a student of Class 8, alleged that her father, a habitual drunkard, had been sexually abusing her for past several months and had threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed it to anyone.
Rajpal, a resident of Raipur village, had in October last lodged a complaint against four persons alleging that they had gang-raped her daughter. He had also alleged that police were indifferent to his complaint and garnered support from a political outfit to put pressure on the force, the SP said.
The SP has ordered a fresh inquiry by a DSP-rank officer into the case. He said Rajpal was facing eight cases of various nature. He had also allegedly attempted to push his daughter into flesh trade.
