Minor girl commits suicide in Kanpur

Annoyed by her mother's scolding, a Class XI girl student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the house in Naubasta area, police said today.
17-year-old Riya Tiwari, a Class XI student, took the extreme step last night after she was scolded by her mother. She was upset and later committed suicide, a police spokesperson said.
The incident came to light when her mother came to the room to call her for dinner. The family members informed the police, he said, adding the body has been sent to post mortem and the matter is being probed further.
