CPI(M) state Secretary Suryakanta Mishra today visited the St Capitaneo Higher Secondary School for Girls at Nagrakata, which had received anonymous threat letters five days back.
He also assured that he would take up with the administration that "Ranaghat-type" incidents do not recur in West Bengal.
The authorities of the school, about 70 km from here, had lodged a complaint with the local police station on March 22 about anonymous threat letters.
"In the wake of the nun rape incident at a convent in Ranaghat, the fathers, sisters, teachers, students and guardians in the Jalpaiguri convent are feeling insecure. While there is now police posting in the school, I will take up with the administration about how to instill confidence among them and that such incidents do not happen once again," Mishra said.
Mishra later posted in twitter, "Tea garden workers and people stand united in solidarity with the entire fraternity of Nagrakata St Mary's School."
Following the complaint lodged by the school, Superintendent of Police of A Rabindranath visited the school on March 24 and ordered posting of a police picket near the school and ordered that security of the school be beefed up.
District Magistrate Preetha Sarkar also visited the missionary school and said the district administration had taken the threatening letter to the school seriously.
Coming down heavily on the Trinamool Congress government, Mishra said, "They had chargesheeted Ambikesh Mahapatra (for the facebook cartoon case) but no chargesheet for the rapists and killers of the Dhupguri girl months back.
