Mob blocks Indo-Bhutan road

Alleging that a girl, who had gone to Bhutan to work as a maid, was raped, a mob blocked the Indo-Bhutan road at Chamurchia in Jalpaiguri district and clashed with police.
The body of the girl, hailing from Banahut area of Jalpaiguri, was returned by the Bhutan police today.
The local people alleged that the girl was raped and then killed as the body has injury marks.
To protest the death of the girl and demanding arrest of the culprits, the local people blocked the Indo-Bhutan road at Chamurchia, police said.
When a police team went to lift the blockade they were attacked by a mob and their vehicles were damaged.

Senior police officers have rushed to the spot with huge reinforcements as there was tension in the area, they added.
