Mob goes on rampage after youth dies in mishap

Angry over death of a youth today in road mishap, locals here blocked the busy Faizabad-Varanasi highway for hours and pelted stones on a police team, injuring three policemen.
Eighteen-year-old Sunil was killed after being hit by a four-wheeler near Bhelara Bazar this morning.
The incident irked the locals, who blocked the highway and attacked the police team that had reached there.
The protesters indulged in heavy brick-batting that resulted in injuries to three policemen, including a sub-inspector, a police officer said. They also torched a police motorcycle and damaged another vehicle.
The blockade could be lifted only after six hours when large number of policemen reached the spot and pacified the protesters, the officer said.
