Moderate rains in parts of Himachal as monsoon remain subdued

Several parts of Himachal Pradesh today received moderate rainfall while weather conditions were dry in rest of the state with monsoon remaining subdued.
The sky remained overcast andpeople reeled under sultry heat as humidity level increased in lower hills, the Met department said.
With the monsoon rains deficit further rose by 31 per cent from June 1 till date, average rainfall was recorded 244.8mm against the normal of 355.8 mm.
Nahan received maximum 45 mm of rainfall followed by Renuka 44 mm, Naina Devi 42 mm, Palampur 29 mm, Manali 28 mm, Baijnath 25 mm, Dharmsala 17, Kasauli 15 mm, Sarahan 11 mm, Bharmaur 9 mm, Bijahi 4 mm and Sarkaghat 3 mm.
The mercury rose by few notches with Una and Bhuntar remained hottest in the region with maximum temperature recorded at 35.2 degree Celsius followed by Sundernagar (31.9), Dharamsala (29.9), Solan (28.4), Manali (27.5), Nahan (27), kalpa (25) and Shima (23.5).
There was no significant change in minimum temperature as Kalpa, Keylong and Manali recorded a low of 13.4, 14.1 and 14. 6 degrees Celsius respectively followed by Shimla (15.9), Dharamsala (16.2), Palampur (19.5), Nahan (19.9), Solan (21.4), Sundernagar (22.9), Bhuntar (23) and Una (25.8)
The Met department has predicted rains and thundershowers at many places in lower, mid and higher hills over next six days from tomorrow.
