Moderate to heavy rains in large parts of UP

Met office officials oday said moderate to heavy rains were recorded in many places in western UP and some places in the eastern districts.

While Muzaffarnagar recorded 12 cm rainfall, Bijnore, Hamirpur and Unnao received 7 cm each; Kanpur-6 ; Fatehpur, Orai, Meerut , Lalitpur and Kalpi- 5 each.

Night temperatures rose markedly in Gorakhpur and Allahabad divisions but changed little elsewhere.

Lowest minimum temperature in the state was 10.0 degrees recorded at Najibabad and Orai districts.

Sources said rain or thundershowers will occur at many places and hail storm in isolated places over the state during next 24 hours. Heavy rains and squalls were likely at isolated places.
