Wooing the youths with an eye on next general elections, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today urged them to join Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) saying their entry would change India.
The BJYM, which has launched a membership drive, also plans to make use of modern technology in fulfilling its aim at making one crore members.
At the meeting of its national office-bearers held under the chairmanship of Anurag Thakur, the Morcha said its membership forms would be available through mobile phones and youth can fill up the same online.
Coming out in support of the youth, BJP's Election Campaign Committee head Narendra Modi today said on Twitter, "Judega Yuva, badlega bharat! Welcoming our youth to join BJYM's Yuva Mitra Abhiyan to work towards nation building."
Thakur told members of the Yuva Morcha that with the next general elections round the corner, youth should play an active role in bringing about a change in the government of the country.
He asked his team to strengthen the activities of the Morcha and also make use of modern technology in helping youth join it.
Thakur said though the online enrolment drive through mobile phones would initially be available in bigger cities, there was need to implement it even in smaller towns and at Mandal and district level to help get more and more youth associated with it.
Addressing BJYM office-bearers, BJP's general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal said youth have an important role to play in the next Lok Sabha elections as they could be held anytime soon. He also exhorted them to help strengthen the organisation.
The BJYM membership drive was launched on July 23, the birth anniversary of Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad and would end on September 23 with an aim of making one crore youth as part of the organisation.
