UP Police today said they failed to recover the mobile phone of the widow, who was found murdered on the outskirts of the state capital, and also the SIM card used by the accused during his two-day custody which ended today.
The accused, a private guard at an under-construction apartment in Mohanlalganj, was remanded to two-day police custody on Tuesday and was sent back to jail this morning.
When asked about the CBI probe request sent by family members of the victim, IG (Law and Order) Amrendra Sengar and and Secretary (Home) Kamal Saxena said that no such request was received yet.
"Let the request come," Saxena said.
"The two-day remand of the accused, Ram Sewak Yadav, ended this morning. The police could not recover the stolen sim card used by him and mobile of the victim during this period," the IG (Law and Order) said in reply to a question.
He said that police had conducted searches in the under construction apartment, drain of the village and bushes near the spot but sim and mobile phone could not be found.
Ram Sewak (38) was arrested on July 20 in connection with the brutal murder of the widow (about 36 years), whose body was found inside a school in Balsingh Khera village on January 17.
Asked about the report of the panel probing post-mortem examination of the victim, Sengar said that the inquiry has been handed over but no report was yet submitted by them.
There were contradictions in post mortem report and claim of family members of the victim.
While post mortem examination said that there were two kidneys of victims, her family member had claimed that she had donated one kidney to her husband.
On the directives of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, a two-member panel of Director Generals of Health and Medical Education--AS Rathore and K K Gupta--respectively were handed over the probe into the kidney controversy.
Director General Health A S Rathore when asked about the probe regarding kidney controversy, told PTI that he had got relevant details from SGPGI about it and he would discuss it with fellow panel member DG, Medical Education K K Gupta before submitting the report to the government.
