At least seven persons were injured Sunday when they were hit by flying pieces of stones during blasting of a mine in Bagbanshi village in Madhya Pradesh's Datia district, the police said.
The incident occurred when the explosion was triggered for excavating stones from the mine, located around one km from here, a police officer said.
"A company was constructing a national highway near the village and using explosives for quarrying stones. Seven persons sustained minor injuries when they were hit by splinters," said Superintendent of Police Mayank Awasthi.
He said the incident triggered protests among the villagers who set on fire at least two four-wheelers belonging to the construction company.
Police have detained the manager of the company and two others. Further investigation is underway.
