Madhya Pradesh BJP today rubbished the Congress "charge sheet" against it and said the opposition party was accepting defeat even before the assembly elections.
"This is not an 'aarop patra' (charge sheet) but a 'parajay patra' (letter accepting defeat) even before the polls, since there is nothing new in it.
"It is merely a photocopy of the no-confidence motion tabled by the opposition Congress during the last assembly session," BJP Vice President Prabhat Jha told a press conference here.
While releasing the charge sheet earlier in the day, Congress leaders including Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh, state Congress chief Kantilal Bhuria, Union Minister Harish Rawat and Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh had alleged that BJP had indulged in corruption to the tune of Rs 1.47 lakh crore in Madhya Pradesh.
However, countering the Congress charge, Jha and state BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar said it was totally baseless, as this much was not even the MP government's annual budget which stands at around Rs 1.23 lakh crore.
Jha said it was a social crime to mislead people by levelling such baseless allegations and added that BJP would approach the Election Commission on the issue.
The BJP Vice President also highlighted that the Government of India has given 18 awards to MP in various sectors and asked Congress if the Centre had awarded the MP government for being corrupt, as alleged.
He also slammed Congress for levelling baseless allegations against MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's family.
