Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh assembly Ajay Singh said here today that the time had come for people to ask the ruling BJP what it has done for them during its rule for more than nine years.
Addressing a public meeting at Amjhor about 65 km from here as part of a Parivartan Yatra organised by the Congress, Ajay claimed that BJP Vice President Uma Bharti had betrayed the people of Madhya Pradesh.
When she had become MP Chief Minister in December 2003, she had promised to improve the power situation, but now she has become a MLA in Uttar Pradesh, he said.
He alleged that former state tribal welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah had been forced to resign because he was a tribal.
Besides, no action has been taken against ministers like Babulal Gaur and Kailash Vijaywargia who made indecent remarks against women, and this only showed that the BJP had double standards when it came to women.
He recalled that many schemes like one-point power connection for the people had been introduced when his father Arjun Singh was MP Chief Minister.
MP Congress President Kantilal Bhuria claimed that if the his party returned to power after this year's assembly elections, it would re-introduce the one-point power connection scheme.
