MP government to introduce 'Jan Taxi' service in four cities

Madhya Pradesh government plans to introduce a 'Jan Taxi' service in the state's four major cities, namely Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Ujjain, MP State Urban Administration and Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said here today.
"We are seriously considering introduction of the Jan Taxi service in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Ujjain and their fare will be lesser than private taxis being operated in the state," Vijayvargiya said addressing a convention of local bodies.
The minister also directed officials on the occasion to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the proposed Light Metro Train services for Indore and Bhopal and also identify land for likely stations.

He also asked them to carry out a survey of trees and electric poles coming in the way of the proposed route for Light Metro Train services.
Vijayvargiya also stressed on ensuring cleanliness at public places, especially bus stands and railway stations as well as appealed to officials to devote at least two hours in a week on such campaigns.
The Minister also informed that to supply drinking water in cities, the state government made a provision of Rs 2,300 crore in the next financial year.
