Kannur jail authorities said Nisham was brought there this afternoon from Viyyur Central Prison, near Thrissur, where he had been lodged since his arrest on January 29.
Nisham, owner of King Beedi Co., had allegedly in an inebriated state, assaulted the security guard, Chandra Bose, and later rammed him with his Hummer vehicle, following an argument over delay in opening the gate at a posh residential township here, on January 29.
There had been allegations that Nisham was being extended VIP treatment by the Viyyur prison officials and was allowed to meet his relatives frequently.
The stringent Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) has been invoked against Nisham.
