Sasikumar, district spokesperson of the organisation, was returning home on a two-wheeler when some unidentified assailants chased him on motorcycles and attacked him with sickles on September 22 last year.
He succumbed to injuries at a hospital later.His funeral procession the next day triggered violent protests in Coimbatore.
Saddam Husain, absconding after the murder, was arrested yesterday at Karumathapatti, about 20 kms from here, by Special Investigation Division of CBCID.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Madurasekaran remanded Saddam to judicial custody till August 16.
