Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) or the Mizo Student's Federation submitted complaint in the Aizawl Police Station against the Principal of PG High School K Lalrammuana for allegedly cheating students of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
The MZP leaders said that PG High School is one of the centres of the NIOS and many students in the centre who paid all the fees could not sit in the examinations for Class XII.
"The problems faced by NIOS students in Mizoram have been going on for years," the MZP leaders said, adding that repeated appeals made to the authorities of the centres had not yield positive results prompting the student body to lodge a police complaint yesterday.
Meanwhile, some educationists lamented that the state government did not take interests in the NIOS centres and the students resulting in the sufferings of the students.
They opined that the state school education department should intervene and rein in the NIOS centres to ensure that the centres look after the welfare of the open school students.
