The Chief Minister must take moral responsibility for the present situation and step down "as happens in any democratic nation and society in any part of the world, whether he is at fault or not," NPMHR said in a release here.
Expressing alarm over the present situation the statement said, "We are also aware that if the situation does not normalise in the coming days and weeks, there is an entire generation of Naga children whose career and future would be affected."
The organisation expressed regret over the killing of three Naga youths - Thejavizo Metha, Bengdangnungsang Longkumer and Tsapise Sangtam - in police firing since the clashes with police broke out on January 31 night in the run up to the February 1 Urban Local Body (ULB) polls.
It also blamed the high-handeness of the administration and alleged it caused mayhem in Naga society.
