Nagaland upgrades Noklak sub-division into district

The Nagaland government today said it has upgraded Noklak sub-division into a full-fledged district with immediate effect.
Noklak will now be the 12th district of Nagaland and the jurisdiction comprises of the erstwhile Noklak sub-division under Tuensang district.
Noklak is more than 300 kms from the state capital Kohima and is mainly inhabited by Khiamniungan tribe.
The Governor of Nagaland is pleased to upgrade Noklak sub-division to fill-fledged district with immediate effect, stated a notification issued by Nagaland Home Commissioner, Abhishek Singh.
The upgradation was approved by the State Cabinet in its meeting held yesterday in Kohima while the official notification was issued today.
Noklak is also the third district to be bifurcated out of Tuensang district since 2004, when Kiphire and Longleng districts were created.
