Nagori, others appear before court in 2008 sedition case
Press Trust of India Indore Safdar Hussain Nagori and other suspected members of banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) today appeared before a court here which is conducting the trial of a sedition case against them.
Nagori, Aamil Pervez, Shibli, Qamaruddin, Shahduli, Qamran, Ansar, Ahmed Baig and Yaseen were brought here from Ahmedabad prison and produced before Additional Sessions Judge B K Paloda amid tight security.
Another accused, Manuroz, who is on bail, also appeared in the court.
They were arrested from Indore in 2008 for sedition and waging a war against the country, among other offences. Police alleged that they were planning terror attacks.
Following the arrests, police recovered explosives, firearms, ammunition, etc, from a farmhouse near Indore.
Prosecutor Vimal Mishra said Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Kaithwas today deposed as a prosecution witness in the court about seizure of firearms, cartridges, propaganda literature, explosive material and other items during the raid on the farmhouse on the intervening night of March 26-27, 2008.
