"In the best interest of the people of Andhra Pradesh, our party urges you to kindly resolve this issue on priority by calling an all-party meeting to settle the issue across the table," Naidu told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in an one-page letter.

Seeking to clear the air over his party's stand on the statehood demand, the TDP chief reminded the Prime Minister that his party has conveyed its opinion on Telangana to the Pranab Mukherjee Committee through a letter on October 18, 2008.

He accused Congress of "abdicating its responsibility" to resolve the Telangana issue only for its political gains.

"Congress party, of late, is reportedly having secret parleys with select parties exposing its game plan to malign TDP by joining hands with parties like TRS and YSR Congress keeping the elections of 2014 in mind," he alleged.

Congress had forged an alliance with TRS in 2004 elections but did not take any action on its electoral promise (of creating a separate state) despite riding to power, he recalled.

Again, keeping an eye on the 2009 elections, the UPA government had appointed a committee headed by Pranab Mukherjee (to look into the statehood demand), Naidu said.
