However, twenty-three persons, including eight women, were injured in the mishap that occurred at Dum Dum Parai area and had been hospitalised at Batlagundu near here.
It was a narrow escape for the occupants of the van as the vehicle did not move any further down on the ghat road after it hit the boulder as the driver lost control while negotiating a hairpin bend, police said.
The mishap led to a traffic snarl for a while.
