The meeting came even as the issue has generated much heat in Parliament.
P Chidambaram and Kapil Sibal were among the legal experts of the party at the meeting which was also attended by some of the Congress general secretaries.
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and leader of the party in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, along with chief Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, too, attended the meeting, party sources said.
Earlier in the day, Abhisek Singhvi, the senior advocate for Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, said that the court order in the matter was "unsustainable and erroneous".
He, however, said that does not mean that the party was casting any aspersions on the judiciary.
