Haryana government has decided to implement a new scheme through which villagers residing at any other location can contribute to the development activities of the person's native place.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today, said an official release.
It was observed in the meeting that although people leave their villages or towns for business purposes, yet their association continues with their native places.
Hooda directed to organise a conference of such people in the state on the pattern of that of the NRIs.
Under the scheme, such people will be able to contribute in activities like setting up of libraries, gyms, construction of bus shelters, water courses and cremation sheds.
Hooda directed that sanitation projects should also be included in this scheme and asked a four-member committee under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayat Department to prepare modalities of the scheme.
